Let the games commence!

All right! I finally stopped procasinating and started on my own gaming blog. Not that i expect anyone to read the stuff about the games i play but then it's for my own enjoyment.

To the people who do view my blog, the reviews of my games are how i enjoy it as a game hence, there aren't any scores (which i personally feel are stupid) besides i gauge the game according to how interested i am in it and willing to spend time to play it. There's far too many so called awesome games which gets rave reviews and end up i spend less than a few hours playing it, wasting my dollar. And i'll try to update this blog weekly since afterall i'm in army and i don't really get much time to spend on games. Besides i do have a social life although it's quite a small one :) so i can't possibly spend all my time on games.

So for the first review, i'll be reviewing the current game i'm playing now and that is King's Bounty The Legend or KBTL as what i would like to call it. For starters i want gamers to know this is NOT a HOMM clone. King's bounty was a classic game that was released much earlier than HOMM(if you don't believe me search king's bounty release date and the first HOMM game). KBTL is the first sequel after 10 plus over years and since i only got a small taste of KB when i was a youth, i'm not really sure if it's a good sequel but i can assure you it's a damn bloody addictive game which you will spend all your free time playing.

Okay first off if you still want to compare it to HOMM think of it as an rpg version of HOMM where the map u explore is in real time but combat wise it's more or less the same. For character creation, you get to choose 3 characters you want to use. Warrior, Paladin (i'm using it), and last of all mage. They have slightly different skill trees depending on the character. But that isn't necessarily a bad thing with the common similiarity. That's because, each character gets more of their favoured runes to plan how you want to play your character. There are all together 3 runes, Might, Mind and lastly Magic runes. For instance, warriors get more might runes as compared to mind and magic runes while paladin gets more mind runes but less of magic and might runes. Followed by Mages getting more magic runes than might and mind runes.

Now i'll talk about the game itself, the world itself is pretty detailed. You get to see squirrels, rabbits walking around and jumping onto trees if you get too close to them. Stuff like that just keep me excited. When you buy the game itself you'll be able to see for yourself. The world is beautiful in the game. Some might not like the colourful concept of the game but heck it brings me nostalgic memories of old games which makes me favour this game. Besides the colours are appropriate and fit into the different locations perfectly. Hell, i see that it takes more time to do this than the generic dungeons and forests you see in OBLIVIONSHIT. The main quest isn't fantastic or anything like that but it isn't that shabby either. The side quests are awesome though and they'll just suck you right into the game. They can be sometimes the downright typical side quests to the quirky sidequests and there are some choice and consequences to the sidequests. For instance, i had to save this windmill operator who had somehow turned into a half-zombie(half mainly he still had conciousness) because he wore a cursed ring which he stole from the cemetary. I had to choose to either save him or kill him.

Music is ambient and fits the world quite well so just enjoy it :P I'm not really anal about music unless it's really horrible.

Dialogue between npcs can be humorous and quirky at times and each have their own distinct way of writing like for instance a pirate woman (yes there is one) naturally has a different script of writing compared to a peasant woman. So you can see some effort put into the dialogue writing. Although the english words sometimes are wrong, afterall it is a russian developer, i somehow feel that they truly have put in the effort to make this game as best as they could and for that i love it.

It brings a breath of fresh air to the gaming scene by doing something different but i know no matter how good this game is, it won't sell well for doing something different. That's how things are and people will still think it's a HOMM clone when i feel HOMM actually copied elements of KB into their own game. As such they will complain about this and that and how it's not HOMM but just a stupid clone when by right this game has so much more going on than HOMM. HOMM was a static world compared to the living world of KBTL and you can do so much more than in HOMM. As such, i'll recommend highly this game to people who really want to be sucked into a game that has already cost me 20 plus over hours and i don't think i'm even 1/3 there. Just 48 dollars at Tecdrome is more than worth the money i think.

Hurry up and buy it!! I'm wasting time writing this review! Back to KBTL
